Mr. Bradham Day Celebration!

On May 13 Pope Elementary celebrated it's 40th anniversary.  All of the previous/ current students from Pope came to celebrate Pope's 40th Birthday.  A large part of the celebration was honoring previous principals and celebrating Mr. Bradham Day.  I met so many of my grandfather's previous students.  I couldn't believe how many people were there!  There were people that traveled from Florida and California.  I had a great time visiting with people and hearing about eraser relays and Mr. Bradham Day.  It was truly inspiring!  Here are some pictures:

I wish I had been there on that day! I went to Pope after moving to Texas in the summer of 1978. We arrived just before 4th grade. I left behind two grown siblings. Finding my way in a new school was so hard. Mr.Bradham made my days at school happy! I think of him often. I tell my children all about him. Honestly, I think he taught me how to treat children. He was always a big part of our days at school. I remember his wave while I proudly manned my corner as a safety patrol. I remember the races in the school cafeteria. I remember all those times he was on the other side of that jump rope at recess. Please let him know how important he was to me. I wondered about him all these years until last week my dad mentioned that he sees him at lunch. Dad sometimes is forgetful, so I was not 100% sure my dad had his facts straight. Imagine my surprise when I found out my dad was right! I am so glad your grandfather is doing well. Please, just tell him "thank you" for his dedication! The time he spent with each and every one of us meant more than he will ever know!

Warmest regards,
